Projectionlabs is Robert Wren’s virtual playground
About me
By day, I am a manager at Deloitte in New York City.
My career focuses on data analytics, computer forensics, tactical software development, and electronic discovery. I also find myself helping my colleagues/family/friends with any technology needs, which is mostly tech “troubleshooting” support (sounds like a name, i’m tech, tech “troubleshooting” support, just call me troubleshooting). that would be my indian name, trouble shooting. not good with bow and arrow. ha!
anyways, i digress. i enjoy being a consultant because I am able to learn about new technologies, and the career isn’t focused on one facet of technology, like software development. I have the opportunity to flex all my different skills throughout my career. However, it all comes down to my passion for puzzles, challenges, being innovative and creative, and discovering new ideas and techniques.
off the clock, i read, run, and play on my latest new hot ultraportable thinkpad x61s. i dubbed it panda cause it came from china. notice the site’s icon? I enjoy exploring NYC and hanging with friends. while i have lived in san francisco and nyc, i favor san francisco for its weather and dramatic scenery along with the less nerve racking pace. plus, living on the west coast you are the last ones waking up in the continental US. i always liked that fact for some reason.
About Projectionlabs
traveling is one of my passions, and this site is mostly my travel journal where i write about my experiences and have a picture/video gallery of what i have seen. sometimes i will have a rant or write something about technology. i hope to make this site more of a repository of my tech tips, tricks, and links as i discover solutions to the numerous technical challenges I encounter and solve.
the site is a hand coded XHTML and CSS compliant site using the latest in web standards. it is coded using VI and being hosted by dreamhost. the blog and photo gallery is run by super cool wordpress and gallery2.
i bought the projectionlabs domain back in 2001 when i was in college. the name comes from the idea that we project ourselves onto reality. ever been in the situation where someone’s ideas made you discover a new way of looking at the situation. sure, everyone has, and this “projection” is how the mind interprets the facts based on past experiences, beliefs, morals, ethics, attitudes, and opinions to formulate ideas, develop logic, and produce feelings. the web is an amazing, organic structure where anyone can project their ideas onto a vastly connected medium. a place to call home and your soap box. a way to share knowledge and ideas. so, this is my little corner of the web where i project my reality onto an artificial one.
enjoy!
