iceland
iceland is desolate, which makes it pristine and beautiful. in the first day, i have seen some amazing landscapes and geological structures from waterfalls to ancient lava fields. prior to the trip, we were informed that iceland is statistically 2 degrees warmer than nyc due to the gulf stream. i am so happy i packed a jacket. it is cold, say 40 – 50 degrees, but the wind, oh, the wind.
anyways, we drive a lot. we landed in keflavik, near reykjavik (i’m going to have to learn how to spell this word instead of looking it up each time). as soon as we did, we jumped in the rental car and drove.
we drove about 5 hours on the first day and that doesn’t include the 4 hours on a bus to a remote place in the interior. the car we rented is a 5 speed, which i’m loving. the scenery is dynamic and changes frequently from rocky to grassy to hilly to mountainous to farmland to all kinds of different terrain. in the distance looms the huge snow capped mountains.
so, woke up late cause i didn’t sleep on the plane (red-eye) and driving all yesterday wore me out. i will post more later on, but wanted to write something. gotta get back into the habit.

Beautiful pictures. The cool temps would be a nice break from the heat. LYMY
Sounds like you hit the ground traveling (hee hee). Don’t forget to stop and smell the icy rocks.
I believe it was a wise man from Iceland who once wrote, “a rolling stone gathers very little, if any, desolate terrain”. So, remember this when you are enjoying the fifth gear wind on your face (or roll up the window b/c it is cold as iceland out there).
Those are all of the bad jokes I have for today.
Drive safe. Happy travels. Tell John I said “hello”.
